Ideal to accompany ham, not very cured cheeses, stews with sauces not very epeciadas, cooked or stewed legumes, poultry, red meats, grilled meats and roasts. Serve between 16-18°C.

Description and Provenance

The Reservas de Marqués de Riscal are basically made from grapes from vines of the Tempranillo variety planted before the 70s, located in the best calcareous clay soils of the Rioja Alavesa. This variety withstands well the aging in wood and aging in bottle thanks to its good acid balance and its fine tannins. The Graciano variety, whose percentage in the mixture does not exceed 10%, provide freshness and vividness of color. The fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 26ºC with a hardening time that does not exceed 12 days. The reserves of Riscal remain approximately two years in American oak barrels, configuring a wine that fits within the canons of Riojan classicism, fresh, fine, elegant and with great aging potential. Before going on the market, it has a minimum bottle tuning period of one year.

Tasting notes

Cherry color wine very covered, intense and with hardly any signs of evolution. On the nose it is very expressive with notes of licorice, cinnamon and black pepper, where the long aging in wood is barely perceived, thanks to its great complexity and concentration of ripe fruit. In the mouth it is fresh, with very pleasant polished tannins, with good structure but easy to drink. The finish of the mouth is long and leaves some slight balsamic memories of great quality.
