HISTORY

The origin of the distillery TOMATIN dates back to the sixteenth century, when its small illegal still supplied whisky to shepherds and ranchers in the eastern region of the Monadhliath Mountains, in the Highlands. It is one of the distilleries located at the highest altitude in Scotland, at 315 meters above sea level, which was legally constituted in 1897, and which in the 1970s became one of the largest distilleries in the country, with its 23 stills.

Tasting notes

Luminous golden amber color of medium intensity.

It displays delicious notes of dried fruits, such as apricots and ripe peaches, along with hints of vanilla, raisins, nuts, almonds and hazelnuts, a sweet touch of heather honey, and a smoky bottom.

Very tasty, and broad, with great character of malted barley, spicy hints of vanilla and white pepper, toasted wood and bitter almonds, culminating in a dry and smoky peat finish, which gives it a lot of character and a long persistence.
