HISTORY

Catto's is one of the oldest surnames in the long tradition of the art of blending Scotch whisky.

James Catto founded the company in 1861 in Aberdeen, Scotland. He decided to blend the high-quality malt whiskies from the Scottish Highlands sold in his shop with the popular grain whiskies from the Scottish Lowlands. He locked himself in measuring, blending and tasting until he was sure he had created the most exquisite blended Scotch whisky. He didn't show his product to anyone until he had that guarantee. His artisanal approach paid off and his whisky was immediately successful.

A global phenomenon

Thanks to Catto's contacts with the founders of the P&O and White Star shipping companies, soon after his whiskies sailed the seas of the whole planet on their way abroad. So shortly after the Catto's brand had already been consecrated in clubs and canteens of officers around the planet.

Today, it is still possible to taste their Rare Old Scottish Whisky, which remains faithful to the original recipe, based on malt and grain whiskies of the highest quality. The result is a soft and timeless glass that continues to have a worldwide reputation for being "The Artisanal Blend".
