Glencadam 10 years is an aged malt whisky, launched in late 2008 by Angus Dundee. 'The Rather Delicate Highland Malt', delicate and balanced. Unfiltered, without coloring and bottled at a perfect 46 degrees.

HISTORY

In 1825, George Cooper founded the Glencadam whisky distillery. The distillery changed hands several times during the 19th century, but only twice in the 20th century. In July 1954, Andrew Stevenson and Harry Southwell sold Glencadam to Hiram Walker and five years later, Hiram Walker renovated the buildings. In 1987 Allied Lyons, which later became Allied Domecq, bought the distillery, which by then had also changed its name, Hiram Walker Gooderham & Worts. In 2003 he sold it in 2003 to Angus Dundee.

Despite having closed for three years prior to the sale, the distillery had been left in such good condition by Allied, that Angus Dundee was able to reopen it only two months after the acquisition. Glencadam was the second distillery in Angus Dundee, the first being Tomintoul.Traditionally, stills in Glencadam were heated by coal, which produced a lot of smoke and was very dirty, and also required a lot of manual labor. They now use steam to control the temperature of the stills. Glencadam has operated only two stills since it began in 1825. The shape of the stills in Glencadam plays an important role in distillation, giving a special final character to the "new make spirit", a precious liquid resulting from the last distillation process.

An unusual feature in the sector is Glencadam's line of pipes, which run up at a 15-degree angle, rather than downwards. This helps produce a particularly delicate and soft "spirit". The Glencadam distillery operates at full capacity with its two stills that produce around 1.4 million liters and is equipped with eleven warehouses for its barrels.
